Julie Zhuo,

who works as a design VP for Facebook, presented 8 ways for work and life balance in her article “The Mystery of Work-Life Balance.” Below are 8 ways to balance work and life that She suggested.

Everything depends on how you accept it.

If you are a smart person, you know that success is not gained by working all night long for days. Success is a long journey that requires sustained effort for at least a few years.

Even when there is a lack of balance between work and life, or when there is heavy work pressure, most of the stress comes from your own feelings of accepting the situation. For example, on a weekend evening, it’s like an obsession with your own thinking, “I have to answer this email right now!”

Understanding that stress comes from within you will allow you to cope better with this situation.

Set a clear line and keep it.

It is important that you set the time and clear standard of your own work and keep it. For example, “At 6:00, I leave work unconditionally. And I go home and work only from 9:00 to 10:00”

If there are exceptions that need to be handled even if it is not business hours, it is a good idea to define the situation. For example, if the server is down or the day before the service is launched. If this is not the case, it is not an urgent task to deal with right away, so you can do things a little more effortlessly.

Set clear and realistic goals.

If you do not know what you want to accomplish professionally or personally, you are likely to fall into the trap of endless work.

Unless you are clear about what you are doing or the criteria for achieving your goals, you do not know when you need to finish your work. Also, if you do not have a specific interest in your personal interests or relationships, you will always be pushed out of your priorities and neglected.

It is necessary to set realistic goals that clearly distinguish between work-related and personal goals, and to distribute work and rest well at your own priorities.

Minimize interference.

If you do not want to work 24 hours a day, you should plan how you will use your working hours efficiently. Most stress will be given when you can not use the time you want.

It is also a good idea to create your own time to achieve your goals without any interruption, and not to worry about it after that. Of course, you can continue to receive messages on your smartphone, but if you do not have an “urgent situation” to deal with immediately, it’s a good idea to deal with it later. If you do not want minimal interference, switch to airplane mode and avoid getting an alarm.

Quality is more important than quantity.

Fill your day with a time that you can truly remember. you will not remember the time spent in the Internet and the SNS. Instead, it will be a more memorable time if you spend time watching masterpieces such as “Game of the Throne”, “Sherlock” and “Death Note” that you have not seen with your loved ones.

In other words, everything is prioritized, and the more important or precious things you do, the higher the quality of the time.

Ask for help.

You do not have to deal with everything alone and you do not have to be perfect. Please admit that you need help. Practice to ask others for help when needed. That’s the most valuable lesson you can learn.

Make sure you get enough sleep time.

Stress comes from the brain. That is why you need to keep your brain in optimal condition. One way is to have enough sleep.

If you maintain a sleep time of 8 hours per day, you can create a physical and mental relaxation that can handle not only the next day’s schedule but also big and small unexpected situations much more easily.

Take time to look back at yourself.

If you can not remember what you’ve done in the past few months, you may not have been able to use the time in a balanced way. Record memorable moments and appreciate those moments.

The best way to do this is to write or write a diary. It is also good to leave photos or videos. Looking back on your memories can be a great motivation to plan well ahead of time and to spend that time well.
